Leaves

The time for Autumn leaves in San Francisco always comes as a surprise. It does not come in the Fall to announce a dark, cold Winter that seems never to end.  Instead it comes  in December, marking the period when the days stop turning in and start turning out. The Season of Autumn leaves comes out of its proper time, creating a magic season. It has all the dazzling beauty of Autumn, but without Autumn’s melancholy as messenger of the winter to come. Instead, it breathes an atmosphere of hope and renewal.
